Smarty Error "function Call 'get_template_vars' Is Unknown Or Deprecated" Where There Is No Errors

I get this error sometimes

[28-Mar-2011 14:22:20] PHP Notice: function call 'get_template_vars' is unknown or deprecated. in /home/jordan/public_html/includes/smrty/sysplugins/smarty_internal_wrapper.php on line 57

but I do not use this function in ANY php file, and it does not exist in any php file in the project (opened all php files and with np++ and searched through all of them) However, why does this error appears in the error log, and how to fix it?

Fatal Error: Call To A Member Function On A Non-object - Smarty Template

I have a script based on smarty template. After I corrected one mistake in the file chatmsgs.php I got this error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /usr/home/chatmsgs.php on line 77

I don't know what is the problem, because before and after that line there are many object functions:

[line 75] $query = $db -> Execute("SELECT id FROM chat");
[line 76] $numchat = $query -> RecordCount();
[line 77] $query -> Close();

Avoid Call-time Pass-by-reference Deprecated Error?

I'm trying to reduce the warnings that are sent to my apache server log.e warning is:Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated.It is hard for me to imagine why this was deprecated since it is such a useful programming feature, basically I do this:

public function takeScriptsWithMarker(&$lines, $marker) {

and I call this function repeatedly getting results back from it and processing them but also letting the array $lines build up by being sent into this method repeatedly.To reprogram this would be extensive.I don't want to just "turn off warnings" since I want to see other warnings.

Call Recursive Function In Smarty?

$sql = "select menu_id , menu_name , parent_id from menu " ;
$dbc->setFetchMode(DB_FETCHMODE_ASSOC);
$res = $dbc->query($sql);

[code]....

ok i have this section of code to retrieve and pass to smarty. I have registered my make_menu function as a custom user function with smarty, and in the template i have this code:

{make_menu parent_id=$P.menu_bilder_data}

I'm passing $P array in index file. It must work but it gives me nothing because it's a recursive function, it returns an array instead of printed nested uls.

Call Dynamic Function With Unknown Number Of Parameters?

I have a large PHP function library that I want to expose via some sort of api interface. For example, this query string:

api.php?function=myFunction&param1=xxx&param2=xxx&

Would translate into this:

$ret = myFunction( $param1, $param2 );

.. whereas this query string ..

api.php?function=myFunction&param2=xxx&param1=xxx&

Would translate into this:

$ret = myFunction( $param1, $param2 );

Note that I expect to have to rely on the query string to place the parameters required in the query, and in the order required.

Call Function From Smarty With AJAX With No User Action?

I am hitting a lot of different sites to get a list of information and I want to display this information as I get it. Right now I am using a Smarty Template and what I would like to do is:

Pseudo code:

{foreach $page}
$smarty_var = use AJAX to call a PHP function
Render out a new table row on the fly w/ the newly assigned var
<tr><td>{$smarty_var}</td></tr>
{/foreach}

I don't know much about AJAX, I used it a long time ago, and it was similar to this, but not quite, there was user action taken. No I don't have a JS Framework in place. Am I way off here on how this should go? Basically I want to display a table row as data comes available, each table row will be a request to get the data from another site.

Sure, I will tell you about what I am trying to do: url. If you click on the 'Click to view prices from all 43 links' at the bottom on that page you will see. I am using cURL to get all the pages I want a price from. Then for each page I want to get the price. So each page is gonna fire off a function that runs some fun code like this:

function parseTBDOTpageNew($page, $isbn)
{
$first_cut = preg_split('/<table[^>]*>/', $page);
$second_cut = preg_split('/<td[^>]*>/', $first_cut[2]);
if(strstr($second_cut[4], "not currently buying this book") == true)
{
return "$0.00";
}
$third_cut = preg_split('/<b[^>]*>/', $second_cut[9]);
$last_cut = preg_split('/</', $third_cut[3]);
return $last_cut[0];
}

This function is called from another function which puts the price returned from the function above, the name of the company, and a link in an array to be added to another bigger array that is sent to smarty. Instead of doing that, I just want to get the first array that is returned with individual information and add the values into a table row on the fly.

I will take your advice on Jquery, what I have started is an onload function that receives the $pages to be parsed, and I was just in the middle of writing: foreach page get the info and spit some html w/ the info on the page.

Also the function that calls the function to get the price is in a php file, so I need the request to hit a function within a php file and NOT just call file.php?param1=foo, I need to it to actually hit the function in the file. I have Jquery in place, now just trying to figure it out and get it to do what I need, ugh.
