Email Parsing System / Identify Format Of Email (eg Regex On Subject Line)parse The Email With The Correct Processor Check The Data Is Realistic?

i am building a system for automatically parsing incoming emails and populating a database from them

initially there will only be 10-20 expected formats coming in, but long term there is the possibility of thousands of different formats

the way i see it

i need to identify format of email (eg regex on subject line)parse the email with the correct processor check the data is realistic, maybe flag some for manual check populate the database

what i am after is suggestions on how to structure this, eg do i store the formats in the database or flat file, the system needs to be flexible, it might be that subject line detection is not enough and i might also have to scan the email headers.

the data itself could be in the email body or attachments such as pdf, excel files etc

a prime example of this sort of thing is the likes of picasa photo gallery where you can email your photos to a specific email address and it automatically extracts them and puts it in a gallery for you

Phpmailer Sends Email Out With Subject Line Added Twice

There is a weird error in a very basic implementation of phpmailer in which the subject line adds itself twice, its only been added once in the code:

$mailer->Subject = "My Subject";
$mailer->Send();

The output is that it gets the mail but with the Subject Line seen twice in the email client. Its very odd, and its not been set earlier on in the code. Anyone seen this error and found a fix for it?

Reply To A Comment Via Email And Directly Post It On The Website Commenting System?

I have developed a website using PHP and MYSQL. The website has a commenting system through which registered users of the website can post comments on the feedback posted by different users.When a comment is posted for a feedback an email is sent to the user who posted that feedback notifying him of new comments on his feedback.Now what I want is that a feedback owner should be able to post a new comment in response to that comment by simply replying to the email that has been sent by the website.I hope I was able to explain my query properly. If it needs any improvement in explanation, I would be glad to know and make changes accordingly

Simple Game Server Using Post Commands / Code To Do The Post And Receive The Reply?

I am attempting to write a simple game server for an Android game using php with a mysql database.

My idea is to simply have the 'droid application simulate a simple http post request
e.g URL ?lat=58123456,long=-2123456,state=1

My web server is intended to then store a new missile as being launched in an mysql database from those E6 co-ords and then I intend to write another php file to allow all clients to peridoically check for missiles in flight.

I've tried out various bits of code I've found but with no 100% success.

If I type URL into a browser bar - I get back
Array ( [launchlat] => 56123456,launchlong=2700123,state=0 ) because I'm just doing a simple
print_r($_GET);
echo '<br />';

in my php file.

However with my current code

try {
String reply;
HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient();
String postURL = URL;
HttpPost post = new HttpPost(postURL);
List<NameValuePair> params = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>();
params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("launchlat", "56123456"));
params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("launchlong", "2700123"));
params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("state", "0"));
UrlEncodedFormEntity ent = new UrlEncodedFormEntity(params,HTTP.UTF_8);
post.setEntity(ent);
HttpResponse responsePOST = client.execute(post);
HttpEntity resEntity = responsePOST.getEntity();
if (resEntity != null) {
reply = EntityUtils.toString(resEntity);
Log.i("RESPONSE",reply);
}
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}

I'm getting an empty array in reply.

Can anyone suggest a tweak (or completely new code to do the post and receive the reply please?

Send Email When Post Matches Another Post?

My users make posts to buy or sell stuff. I want to email/notify a user when there is a similar post to theirs in an effort to increase traffic. Right now, I have the SQL and the email script below. The user fills out a new post and is taken to a post confirmed page, which is where this script is laid out. The results, only the user that made the post is receiving the email to say 'hey, there is a new post you might like.' This is pretty much the opposite of what I want, but I am stuck. I want every user with a similar post_title or product_name EXCEPT the posting user to receive an email,

$var1_getProduct = "-1";
if (isset($_COOKIE['newpost'])) {
$var1_getProduct = $_COOKIE['newpost'];
}
$var2_getProduct = "-1";
if (isset($_COOKIE['newproduct'])) {

Email Form Including Reply To (from) Of Ftp Username And Correct Email Address

I am working with a SMTP class to send an email. It's all working perfectly fine, but when the email is received (sent from the online form), and I open my email and click reply, there are two email addresses. The correct one (which I entered when I sent the email), and my ftp username for the site??

I've got three files that could effect this, but I was unable to locate any problems:

mailer.php ( smtp send mail class)
mail.php ( submission data: title, subject, etc. )
contact_form.php ( form for submission )

I am only including the file which I think is applicable (mail.php), but let me know if you would also like to see the mailer.php class. Current output:

Reply To Thread Via Email?

I am writing an app to let users reply to a post or thread straight from their email similar to Facebook. Users can already add new posts via email and it is working fine.

When a new post is generated an email alert is sent to specific users and a unique reply address is created containing an encoded string with the original post/thread ID. This is working fine. The emails are sent and the system picks up the reply using the unique reply address.

My problem is trying to isolate the comment/reply in the email, from the quoted original email underneath. Here is an example of an email body received:

reply text

(Origional Email Header)On 10 March 2011 16:35, Example SIte

Reply To Thread By Email?

I have a threaded inbox . By threaded I mean , just like this question is a thread , all replies are aggregated below it . I want to add this functionality : let's say , I started a thread . Now 10 people got notification by email that thread is started.

if user1 replies to this email , the reply should become part of thread on the website .

if user2 replies to this email , the reply should come next to reply of user 1 .

Example :

Basecamp does this . for example , if my username on basecamp is stackoverflow.com

I create a task1 , an email is sent with REPLY-TO address : U3767129P22197427-reply@stackoverflow.projectpath.com

if I reply to this address , my reply is automatically added to basecamp/projectpath website .Do I have to create a new email address for every thread ?

Reading Reply To Email?

I have a script which reads an email received and posts the email to a db together with any attachments etc. What I want to do though is read the email and be able to just pick up the actual response so that I can seperate it. For example, when you reply to the email sent, the entire history trail will be read by the script if its included on the message so all this will be picked up. I don't need all of this, I just need the actual latest reply to the email but I'm not sure how to go about doing this and haven't been able to find any examples either.

Capturing An Email Reply Via A Script

It sends them e-mail on Monday, and concatenates the e-mails together in a document that everyone can read.

And it then sends that out to everyone and shames those who did not answer by putting them on the top of the list. It has run reliably every week since we started, so for every week of our company's history we have a record of what everyone did.

Basically I want to write a script just like that. Question: what's the best way to capture the email replies so I can process them? Create a script that acts as a POP or IMAP client? Via the filesystem somehow (I'm using qmail)? Is there a another way?
