Make Folder And Copy Files In Client Local Drive From Server?

Oct 29, 2009

I'm using PHP thru WAMP server 2 for a project. I have some MP3 files stored on the server. Now logged in at some other client machine, I want to copy some files from the server machine to client machine thru the copy($source,$destination) function. For this i have to define a particular drive on the client machine and make a user defined directory (that client inputs in a form) where the files will be coppied. Using the mkdir($dir) function i want to create the directory and copy the files over there.

The whole process is running absolutey fine on the server machine (i.e, if i log on at the server and perform the action), but it is not working on remote client machine since the mkdir function cannot create a folder in a remote client file system. Can i use the client IPadress to create a directory in the remote client machine?

P.S.: I do not want a save request download diolog box for individual files, nor a zipped file download. I just want to copy the specified files in a specific defined folder in client machine.

My Code:

$folder=$_GET['folder']; // user defined folder inputed from a form
$dir="D:\".$folder."/"; // Destination Directory to copy the files

Copy Files To Local Server Automatically When Testing?

I just installed Zend Studio and it seems pretty great. But I would like to be able to copy my files from my dev folder to my local server's htdocs folder whenever I debug or run the solution.

I am already able to copy files to my remote server automatically on every save. I would imagine I should be able to do this automatically too for my local server?

Browing/Opening Local Files With A Local Drive Path?

Probably going to take javascript to acheive this, but i am using php/MySQL to make links to files on my local hard drive and build a directory of important files i use often. I add files by using the <input type="file" /> form element which browses to the local file fine. Store it in MySQL and it appears as a nice file link.

Storing <a href="C:usersfilename.ext" /> in a database for example, i can open (.png .jpgs .html) etc. but not anything else such as PDF which is the main file type i want. This path gets converted to file:///C:/users/filename.ext when it becomes an html link.

I can get round this by having an upload file section and actually upload the file into the directory of the php files (or sub directory...) so the path becomes just ../subfolder/filename.pdf but this is an added step i dont want to do. A mapped network drive for example would be better in a network environment.

SO thats what i want, not to double up on files by uploading them, just link to files. I know its down to security, but i dont know which way to move forward. Create a security certificate or something? From what i saw you have to pay for that, but i have no experience with this.I remember acheiving this with flash where the links open a local .bat file which in turn opens the file. But again i dont want the program to have to make a .bat file for each file linked to.

Get E Text Editor To Upload Local Copy Of Project Files To Server?

I have a project saved locally on my computer, that replicates a folder saved on my server. When I use my php IDE (PhpEd) and save a change to the locally saved file, it automatically updates the respective file on my server. Can I customize E Text Editor to do this also? It would save lots of time!

Upload Files From Local Folder To Server

ive recently created a gallery website and im happy with the way everything currently works. However the main drawback is the site uploads using a html webfom which is great for remote users or the odd image. However, as i want to mass upload my existing collection i will need the ability to read a selected folder and then to carry out all the same processes that existed from the existing html form upload.

Im also using gdlibrary and checking file types to ensure they are within my allowed list, but im wondering if there are any other common security alerts i should be aware of to keep things a little bit safer if/when i publish outside of my LAN. So in a nut shell i need some assistance with changing my upload process to work for more than one file at a time, ideally by reading a folder, or at least reading X amount of files at a time - processing them then moving onto next batch of files in the list.

Errors On Making Local Copy Of Server?

I have a site that I am trying to create a local copy of for test purposes (dusting off a past site). I was able to correctly get the db out and most of the site works great. However, I have places where things aren't loading correctly and are just giving me errors or messages in curly braces.For example, a td class' name is being replaces with {BOX_HEADER} or on another page instead of a flash loading it just displays {PAGE} in the spot where the flash should be. Has anyone seen errors like this before?I was thinking it could be PATH/echo errors but I was seeing if anyone had experienced problems like this before.

Copy Files Repository To New Folder?

I have a folder named "repository" in my admin folders. This folder holds 2 files: index.html and content.php. When a user creates a new page the php creates a new folder specified by the user then will need to copy the two files into that folder while leaving them in the repository.

copy(file,dest) does not work. rename(file,dest) moves the files to the new folder but I lose them in the repository. How do I copy the files in one folder to the new folder without losing the files in the original folder?

$dest = '../'.$menuLocation.'/'.$pageName;
$file1= "repository/index.html";
$file2= "repository/content.php";

$menuLocation and $pageName are supplied by the user. The files are there, file_exists returns back true. Also, the directory is created with no issues. rename() also works I just lose the files in repository.

Build A Client-server Application For Local Programming Contest System?

I am thinking to build a client server system, in which the server can receive user's code and compile it and return the result to the user. This system will be used for a local online programming contest at my university. So basically, the user can write some code (PHP / C++ / Java, etc) and submit their code from the front end (web application). Once they click submit, this code has to be sent to the server, and then the server will compile the code and return the result back to the user.What is the best way to to this, so that the server cn compile multiple language codes (C++, C, Java, PHP, Python, etc)? What is the best practices in designing this system? Do I need to use web services to pass the user code to different services (1 service to receive and compile the c++ code, 1 service to receive and compile Java code, 1 for python, etc)?
