Formmail.php

Mar 5, 2006

I'm trying to set up a contact form to use formmail.php but am not sure of the email line. Can you say if its right?

<input type="hidden" name="recipients" value="info@website-uk.com" ,"harryM@aol.com", "d.nich@rbo.com", "h.man@rbo.com /">

and the formmail.php script with:

$TARGET_EMAIL = array('info@website-uk.com' ,'harryM@aol.com', 'd.nich@rbo.com', 'h.man@rbo.com' /);

I dont know about the leading slash at the end, or if I've done the 4 email addresses properly.

Trouble With PHP Formmail

Nov 6, 2006

I'm using PHP 4.4.4 and have downloaded the free script
formmail.php (version 4.1b). Wondered if anyone had experienced the
same problem I'm having. I'm submitting a form to formmail.php, but
none of the variables seem to be getting recognized. Here is part of
the form I'm submitting ...

<body onload="document.forms[0].submit();">
Sending Order ...

<form action="formmail.php" method=post
enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded">
<INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="subject" VALUE="Order for Coffee">
<INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="redirect" VALUE="thanks.html">
<INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="recipient"
VALUE="laredotornado@gmail.com">
....
</form>
</body>

but then I get warnings like below ...

Notice: Undefined variable: recipient in
/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/andersonscoffee/formmail.php on line 365

Notice: Undefined variable: required in
/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/andersonscoffee/formmail.php on line 383

Notice: Undefined variable: require in
/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/andersonscoffee/formmail.php on line 388

Notice: Undefined variable: email in
/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/andersonscoffee/formmail.php on line 429

but as you can see above, "recipient" and "email" are clearly defined.
What am I doing wrong?

Formmail Blues

Jun 25, 2007

I'm working on a little dice server e-mail utility for my gaming
needs.

The problem is that the content string that I send to formmail.php is
not the content string that gets e-mailed to me.

For example, the javascript generates...

Roll #1: 2d10 [10,2] = 12
Roll #2: 2d10 [3,7] = 10
Roll #3: 2d10 [9,6] = 15
Roll #4: 2d10 [9,5] = 14
Roll #5: 2d10 [7,6] = 13
Roll #6: 2d10 [1,6] = 7
Roll #7: 2d10 [6,8] = 14
Roll #8: 2d10 [2,6] = 8
Roll #9: 2d10 [10,7] = 17
Roll #10: 2d10 [5,1] = 6

But the e-mail that I get has truncated data...

Roll #1: 2d10 [10,2] =2
Roll #2: 2d10 [3,7] =0
Roll #3: 2d10 [9,6] =5
Roll #4: 2d10 [9,5] =4
Roll #5: 2d10 [7,6] =3
Roll #6: 2d10 [1,6] =
Roll #7: 2d10 [6,8] =4
Roll #8: 2d10 [2,6] =
Roll #9: 2d10 [10,7] =7
Roll #10: 2d10 [5,1] =

The dice server page uses to work properly. My guess is that my ISP
has done something to PHP on the server. I know that since I had to
change the formmail.php script to use $_POST. (Disabling global
registers) Was there a version change in PHP that would cause it to
incorrectly parse that text? Perhaps an HTML conversion that's
getting in the way when $_POST is used versus global variables?

How To Use Captcha On Nms Formmail

Jan 27, 2007

I downloaded an Omgili php captcha script and I'd like to incorporate it into my formmail script, but I'm not sure exactly how to. Here's the deal:

The formmail script is a perl script stored in the cgi-bin and is being used as 'post'. When the 'submit' button is pressed, the form data gets sent to the script and the user is redirected to the thank you page.

The captcha script that I have stores the authentication status of either 'incorrect' or 'correct' in the variable $message, which simply gets printed when 'submit' is pressed.

How can I get it so that the form the formmail form gets submitted only for the $message is 'correct'?

Multiple CCs In Formmail

Nov 1, 2006

My form currently has an array that looks like this:

$formAction['default'] = array(
'recipient' => 'person1@example.com',
'recipient_cc' => 'person2@example.com',
'recipient_bcc' => 'person3@example.com',
'subject' => 'Contact Form',
'redirect' => 'http://www.example.com/thanks.html',
);

Can I make it successfully send to multiple CCs by changing that particular line to something like this?

'recipient_cc' => 'person2@example.com','person4@example.com',

OR maybe this:

'recipient_cc' => ('person2@example.com','person4@example.com')

Troubleshooting Formmail

Apr 23, 2007

I am having an issue with this code, and let's see if I can explain it. The script sends orders to a faxing system, as well as copies to certain people. All of the orders are going through, with the correct from/reply/return headers, except for the main one that goes to the fax system.

That e-mail simply pulls from the server instead of the correct from address and thus it won't send the fax since the system doesn't recognize the registered email account. Code:

FormMail.php 5.0 Parse Error

Feb 13, 2007

I am using FormMail.php 5.0 successfully on my UNIX server. I have a client who has a Windows box and has installed PHP onto it. PHP in many cases seems to be working with other test scripts, but when I try to run the FormMail.php on the Windows box I get the following error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $end in C:wampwwwASCSpublic_htmlformmailcontact.php on line 421

We have no idea what is happening, and I don't believe the script is missing any brackets. The only thing I changed (and then tested on both systems with the same results ) is changing the <? to <?php. I don't believe that has an affect. Is there a php ini issue here I'm not seeing?

Web Development - Should Use Formmail Or It's Mail

Oct 21, 2010

I recently started working on a web project which was already in progress; the guy who built the foundation for it had the signup page sending the form fields to a formmail Perl script, so that he could get an email when a user signs up. I'm not familiar with Perl, and my inclination is to just use the PHP mail() function and drop the Perl script, rather than spend time trying to figure out how to use it correctly.

So, is there any good reason to keep using the Perl script, or should I just advise him to drop it in favor of PHP mail? Any pros and cons, or is it entirely subjective?

Formmail To Email In Database?

Mar 13, 2010

Here's what I need to setup and I am not well versed in PHP/SQL but this is what I'm trying to do.On the New User database, I will have a section where they can have information sent to their phone using the provider's default e-mail to text msg(i.e. 2225551212@txt.att.net.).

New User:Input number: ______________(2225551212 format, no hyphens, etc.).Select Provider:(Drop-down menu with proper @provider.ext...), Then the formmail, when sent, if for specific user will get ($phone".@."$provider); or something like that and send a preset message like:$user."requested information on ".$product."on".$date." at ".$time.".";.

Is this possible?The $user, $product, $date, $time all are generated directly from the most recent input page for a database.

FormMail Easy Replacement?

have a PHP FormMail installed on my server and I heavily relied on it. Suddenly it stopped working, even thought it still says that messages are sent (but they are never delivered). I contacted my host and I am waiting for a reply but I suspect that they just disabled mail() on the server because they did that another time to me as well on another site I host with them.I was wondering if there is a quick way to either replace PHPFormMail or send emails a different way.I have heavily modified the PHP FormMail script for my needs so going to a different type of form handler would be a time-consuming process for me...Is there another PHP function I can use to send emails and just replace the one instance of mail() inside the PHPFormMail code?

No Formmail Results Via Exchange Server

May 24, 2007

I have formmail.php set up on a site to process a short form and include an attachment (a resume). I receive my copy of the form results with the attachment just fine, but my client is not receiving his copy.

My client uses Exchange Server, so his mailbox is not set up on our webhost, but I created a temporary box to test the form, had it forward to my email address and received those results too.

I then sent a test email directly to the address specified in the form and they DID receive the email.

Seems like the results are being filtered out somewhere along the line - possibly because of the attachment - however the results are not appearing in the Exchange Server spam folder.
