Recordset - Connect To My Database From Within Dreamweaver

Anyways, unfortunately my webhost does not allow me to connect to my database from within Dreamweaver (or any remote source for that matter). This causes a problem because I'm used to being pampered by Dreamweaver's user-friendly interface.

Dreamweaver Connect To Database On Remote Server

Unable To Connect To Database: Access Denied For User ''@'localhost' To Database 'publications'

Here is my following tutorial code from "Learning PHP MYSQL and Javascript" by OReilly.

<?php
//require_once = 'login.php';
$db_database = 'publications';
$db_hostname = 'localhost:8888';
$db_username = 'root';
$db_password = 'root';

[code]....

However, I'm getting an error when trying to connect. The browser says it's a 500 error (which really isn't that helpful). When I take out the lines $db_username = 'root'; $db_password = 'root'; I get another error saying: "Unable to connect to database: Access denied for user ''@'localhost' to database 'publications'".

I am trying to connect to MySQL database at on host (DBhost) from another host (PROGRAMhost).While I try to connect to the database at DBhost from DBhost itself the next is working fine for me: mysql_connect("localhost","qdbname","dbpassword")Now I am trying to find out what to use instead of localhost? I tried to replace localhost with host's url:port (I tried number of ports) but this is not working (even when I am connecting from DBhost itself). How can I find out what is the proper value to use instead of localhost?

Cannot Connect To Localhost Using GoDaddy

I'm (trying) to help a friend setup a MySQL db and use some simple
scripts on a site hosted with GoDaddy. I note that GoDaddy appears to
use Microsoft. I have done this:

$connection = mysql_connect("localhost","mydatabase","password")
or die ("Couldn't connect to server.");
$sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM dummy");
$row = mysql_fetch_array($sql);
echo $row['name'];
?>

on several Apache servers and it always seems to work. I created the
MySQL database using the GoDaddy control panel (which is very confusing
and poor IMO). I dove into phpAdmin and was able to do stuff. But I
can't get php to connect.

Sockets - Connect From Localhost ?

I working on a php socket daemon which works via localhost, but when I try to connect from outside the LAN or another PC, it doesn't work. I've simplified my daemon to a very basic socket connection to replicate the issue for you to see.

Basically, here's the senario. I start the socket daemon on my server on port 6667. I can connect to the daemon via telnet and from the browser on the local machine running the daemon, but I cannot from any other machine - the daemon doesn't even see a connection attempt being made.To further complicate the issue (which is why I think it's a port forwarding issue), my ISP blocks port 80, so I've setup dyndns and my router to use port 8000. I've also setup my router to forward port 6667 to my server.To access my daemon from a browser, I enter the following (seudo) url:

http://mydomain.com:8000/client.php

This works from the local machine and will connect, but from any other machine, the daemon doesn't even see a connection attempt being made. However, if I specify the port like this:

http://mydomain.com:6667

my daemon does see a connection being made, but of course then the browser doesn't have a client page loaded that the user can use to interact with the daemon.My client uses a flash file to create the socket connection (jsocket), but I know it isn't the cross-domain policy file because the policy is correct, and when connecting via localhost, it serves the policy file correctly.

Here's the simplified daemon code:

<?
// set some variables
$host = '0.0.0.0'; [code]....

Summary:I CAN connect from localhost via telnet and browser... I CAN connect from other machines via telnet, but I CAN NOT connection from the browser from other machines using the ip or domain name when port 8000 is specified. The daemon doesn't see any connection attempt. If I specify port 6667, then the daemon see's a connection attempt, but that is useless to the user. :

Cannot Connect To MySQL Server Using PHP On Localhost

I have set up MySQL on my home computer, and I am writing a PHP enabled web
site to run queries on this database.

I have created a database called 'weather' on mysql that I want to access
via my website.

I have also created a user with a password (this isn't the real one, but
I'll use this to illustrate my point)
User: carlotam
Password: blah
Host: localhost

To which user I have granted all on database weather.

Using a PHP call: I try:

$username="carlotam";
$password="blah";
$database="weather";
$host="localhost";

$var = $_POST['topic'];

echo "<center><h1>ESCape Database Query</h1></center>";
echo "You have queried <b>$var</b><br><br>";
echo "Your database is: <b>$database</b>.<br>";
echo "Your username is: <b>$username</b>.<br><br>";

mysql_connect($host, $username, $password);
@mysql_select_db($database) or die("Unable to select database
<b>$database</b> on <b>$host</b>.");
mysql_close();

And I keep getting the message "Unable to select database weather on
localhost."

Is there something wrong with the above, or is there something wrong with my
MySQL server configuration? My server is up and running, so I was wondering
if anybody can help with this problem?

If this information helps: I am running MySQL 5.0.15 server on a PowerMac G4
laptop. And yes, I did check to see if the server was running before I
checked the code.

Connect To Localhost From A Virtual Machine?

I'm running some virtual machines using VMware workstation on my PC (using win 7), also I'm using a basic WAMP installation. I'm trying to connect to my Win7 Apache server from any of the VMs. I tried changing the following line on my httpd.conf file:

<Directory "c:/wamp/www/">
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride all
Order Deny,Allow
Allow from all ## Was Deny from all
Allow from 127.0.0.1
</Directory>

This way if I go into my VM browser and type "http://my-ip/Project" I can open the project but I can't see the images or css styles, I think I'm missing some permissions somewhere, also I don't think allowing from all is the most secure way of doing this.

Can't Connect To Localhost XMPP Server On Port 5222

I've set up an ejabberd install locally on my Windows box, where I also have Apache, PHP and MySQL. I've also confirmed that it works great using Digsby, and have kicked the tires a bit by creating some users, sending some messages, etc. All good. However, PHP can't open a stream using stream_socket_client to port 5222. Even at its simplest level:

stream_socket_client("tcp://localhost:5222", $errno, $errstr, 30, STREAM_CLIENT_CONNECT);

Returns a timeout error. However, again, connecting with an IM client to localhost on port 5222 works fine. (Using stream_socket_client to open a simple connection to localhost on port 80 also works.)
