I've got this small script which uses the file function, and I seem to be getting these annoying errors, can anyone understand this for me? Basically a user input form to type in URL then the backend script simply processes the url and prints the HTML for that page.
The interesting thing here is that if I don't place the '@' in front file I get these errors

Warning: Main(): Php_network_getaddresses: Getaddrinfo Failed:

Jun 19, 2005

I have a script that displays random quotes and messages. It used to work fine for over 3 years but for the past two weeks I keep getting the following errors which show up randomly and if you refresh the site the script might work fine again.

Warning: main(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known in /home/httpd/vhosts/domain/httpdocs/index.php on line 76

Warning: main(http://www.domain.com/articles/quotes/quotes.php): failed to open stream: Resource temporarily unavailable in /home/httpd/vhosts/domain/httpdocs/index.php on line 76

At first, the script was setup to open up a small text file and display the text which it contained. The person who hosts the site for me suggested that instead of opening the file I should try a php array. So I did that and I still get the error that I posted above. The error seems to be intermittant.

Warning - Getaddrinfo Failed: Name Or Service Not Known

Aug 4, 2010

I have reedited the previous question - since I had misunderstood what was causing the problem - and therefore the ample snippet I had before was a red herring. Thanks to wimdvx, First of all, I am using code that is base on this one, to handle IPN notifications from Paypal. I was unable to connect using fsockopen, so I wrote a small snippet (shown below), to try to connect to Paypal.

<?php
$fp = fsockopen("www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr", 80, $errno, $errstr,30);
if(!$fp) {
echo "$errstr ($errno)<br />

[code]....

When I run this little script, I get the following error on my server:

If File_get_contents Failed ... Loop?

Apr 16, 2011

I'm having some trouble with file_get_contents failing & am trying to make a loop that will sleep & then retry a maximum of 3 times before giving up & moving to the next item. I tried using a while loop but I'm getting unexpected T_WHILE, which I assume is because it's already in a while loop? I found this:

Code: [Select]$maxTries = "3";
for ($try=1; $try<=$maxTries; $try++) {

but could use some clarification. Will that only trigger if it failes or do I need to include another if statement like

Code: [Select]$myfile = file_get_contents("http://example.com");
if ($myfile === FALSE) {
$maxTries = "3";
for ($try=1; $try<=$maxTries; $try++) {
sleep(3);
$myfile = file_get_contents("http://example.com");
[Code]...

i m trying to explain it as best I can without having to post my actual source code as I've had it stolen off forums before & now I have a clone to compete with. I'm not great at putting this into words so if I need to clarify

While it seems the XML error is triggered by the PHP error, it only happens on IE and never on any other browser.

Warning: Rename Failed (No Such File Or Directory)

Sep 5, 2001

I have been working on an upload script using file functions etc (it is being tested on windows ME). For some reason if there is an error some of the functions throw up their own error instead of simply returning false, for instance, the rename function which I have been using today, as long as it can be done, it works properly and returns true, but if it can't be carried out I get this.

Warning: Rename failed (No such file or directory) in c:wwwrootppwsicoadmincontroldatabasecontrolincludespicture-actions.php on line 23

The above was caused because the file has the same name as it is being renamed to. The code is (line 23 is the 'if blah blah' line):

if (rename($directory.$pic_name, $directory.$new_name.".jpg")){echo "OK";}
else { echo "error"; } All the variables are passed in correctly because it works! All I want is it to display my custom error message.

So, I can include it like that:

<?
include 'counter.php'
?>

BUT... and here's my problem... the script need more info... like...

<?
include 'count/counter.php?site=0001&type=2&images=1'
?>

when I try this, I get a:

Warning: Failed opening 'counter.php?site=0001&type=2&images=1' for
inclusion (include_path='.;c:php4pear') in D:HTTPDHTDOCScountindex.php
on line 24

both files are in the same directory...

Warning: Main(.inc): Failed To Open Stream: ....

Jul 17, 2005

I am going to be converting my website over the next year to be a Php site. Hopefully this is going to coincide with myself learning the basics of Php. I intend to get hold of a copy of Dreamweaver soon, and also get a book on it as well. Anyway, my first attempt at Php has given me an error. What I am trying to do is to put all the header info for my webpages into an include file, so I can just bring the same include file up for the same header info for each page. My first page starts:

<?php
include ("/header.inc");
?>

When viewing the page though I get the following error:

Warning: main(.inc): failed to open stream: No such file or directory
in /home/public_html/index.php on line 3

Warning: main(): Failed opening '.inc' for inclusion
(include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in
/home/public_html/index.php on line 3

You don't have any idea what this error is do you?
