Variables Used In HTML <IMG Tag

Jul 16, 2005

I'm trying to dynamically load a .jpg image into a html form <Img tag using a PHP variable that holds the filename of the image but no image is displaying (the file is there and works because if I manually type in the filename the <Img tag works) - how can I get PHP's variable to be seen as the filename?

print '<IMG SRC="$php_photo2_file" WIDTH="268" HEIGHT="176" BORDER="0"

Difference Between Using Regular HTML And HTML Inside Echo Statements Or Variables?

have always been thinking which is the best way of writing html in an MVC architecture.Would it be regular html as <div id="id1"> <input type="text" name="tBox" /></div> or echo '<div id="id1"> <input type="text" name="tBox" /></div>';. This is a very small example, but sometimes we can have a single variable or single echo statement having multiple lines of code.

Would we have any performance issues since php has to be parse by the webserver (apache,iis etc), while HTML gets away and is rendered directly by the browser. So would we gain any parsing time by using regular HTML?

PHP Not Getting Variables In HTML Forms

Just installed PHP, and Apache. Am having problems with the PHP to
get form data from an HTML file. Specifically, I can not obtain the
variable "tireqty" in a PHP file called by an HTML file. The files'
contents are listed as follow:

The following is the HTML file
<form action="processorder.php" method=post>
<table border=0>
<tr bgcolor=#cccccc>
<td width=150>Item</td>
<td width=15>Quantity</td>
<td align=center><input type="text" name="tireqty" size=3
<td colspan=2 align=center><input type=submit value="Submit
The following is the PHP file 'processorder.php'
echo $tireqty." tires<br>";
I know PHP and Apache are working becasue I am able to to have an HTML
page to load a PHP page to do a for loop and use the "echo" function
to print the loop iterations. So I'm not sure why PHP can't access
the variable "tireqty". Is there some settings in the PHP engine that
I need to check for this?

Sending Variables To An HTML Form

I have a form in an html file that sends to a PHP file for processing. The information is properly sent to the PHP file and it is processed and validated. What I want to be able to do is this:

If there are errors in the form (found in the PHP validation), send the user back to the HTML form with the form still filled out with the information that the user had entered.
I do not want the fields with errors sent back, just the good information. There are two seperate files, the html file and the PHP file.

Checking Session Variables Within FP Html

I have a website that was developed with FP and PHP code used for logging in user name and password. I am trying to use SESSION variables to track username on other pages. In my login script on a successful login I set the session variable for valid user.

$valid_user = $username;

Then in my other pages I want to test if the session variable is set otherwise send them to the login page.

if (!isset($_SESSION['valid_user']) {

This is the code I'm trying to put at the top of my pages. It works if the page I'm going to is a php extension page, but if it is an htm page it seems to ignore it. I also tried using cookies, but haven't had much luck with them either.

Sending Variables To HTML Email?

I am trying to send an HTML email and I can send the mail OK, but the variables from the form are not getting into the HTML email. The variable itself is what is posted to the email like this $first_name . The rest of the HTML displays correctly.

I have the variable declared on the php form and also on top of the posting page like so $first_name=$_POST I have tried ["first_name"]; and <?php echo $first_name?> and a few other formats. Nothing works. This format works for all my other text emails. How do I get it into the HTML email to display correctly when I get the email?

Parse A HTML Page Into Variables?

I have a temp/humidity/light sensor in a server room that produces a web page with just raw data like this:

uN703610TF: 79.9HU:36.4%IL: 0.7

That is the only thing on the page, it's wrapped in HTML and BODY tags, but that is it. What I want to do is to run a script that will parse that into 3 variables.

Let's say they will be $Temp $Hum and $Light On the above example the Temp would be 79.9 Hum would be 36.4% and Light 0.7

Once they are in their respective variables, I'll put them to a DB and do some charting, but I can not figure out how to get them in variables.
