File Upload Issue - Unable To Upload A Large File

Nov 29, 2006

I am using PHP Version 4.4.3 under Linux/Apachie to upload files.
The PHP.ini upload_max_filesize is 2M, which I need to override this
in the HTML (see below). I changed the MAX_FILE_SIZE to 4,000,000
but the system only accepts files less than 2M.

Is the override wrong, do I need to raise the limit in the PHP.ini
file, or is the Apachie issue.

<form name="upload" action="admin.php" method="post"
<input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="4000000">

.htaccess - Unable To Upload Large File?

Jun 13, 2011

I need to make a module for uploading files with type *.flv in php .I have been successful in uploading small files but not able to upload large files .I have updated php values like

php_value memory_limit 120M
php_value max_execution_time 120
php_value upload_max_filesize 10G
php_value post_max_size 10G
php_value max_input_time 500

I am doing a file upload using PHP, which works fine for a file of size 2.8MB on my localhost - but not my Mediatemple GS host. Files smaller than 2MB work fine, but anything larger seems to not work... I am not getting any error message but when the upload finishes, the file is not found in the uploads directory...I searched around, and added the following lines to the .htaccess file:

php_value memory_limit 120M
php_value max_execution_time 120
php_value upload_max_filesize 10G
php_value post_max_size 10G
php_value max_input_time 500

but it is still not working.

FILE Upload Large File Gives Error 1 Even Though Upload_max_size Is Bigger Than The File Size

Nov 23, 2010

I have a simple upload form with:

and input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="5900000" />

and the following settings, that are applied (checked through phpini()) in php.ini:

upload_max_filesize = 7MB
memory_limit = 64M
post_max_size = 8MB

I try to upload a file that is small - 500k and it goes through I try to upload a file that is 5MB (smaller than both upload_max_filesize and post_max_size settings) and it fails with error code 1: which says is:

UPLOAD_ERR_INI_SIZE Value: 1; The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

PHP File Upload Unexpected Error - File Too Large?

Jul 17, 2005

I have a short basic script to upload files. It works fine with small files,
but with longer files it gets stuck.

Here's the fragment, the input file is loaded in "$file" from an HTML form
as usual.

$img_str = fread(fopen($file, "r"), filesize($file));
$data = addslashes($img_str);
// --------------------- up to here the execution is correct and fast (<1

$sql="INSERT INTO $table (".
" file_name,".
" file_type,".
" file_size,".
" bin_data)".
" VALUES (".
" '$file_name',".
" '$file_type',".
" '$file_size',".
" '$data')";
// --------------------- it gets stuck
mysql_query($sql) or die ("SQL error ..$sql");

I have already set the php.ini variables as follows:
memory_limit = 16M
upload_max_filesize = 6M

I also checked the execution time to max_execution_time = 300 (even though I
don't believe it should be necessary).
The server is a P4 1.8 GHz, 256MB RAM

Cant Upload Large File

Oct 25, 2006

I am working on some code i wrote to manage podcasts for a website. On the back end i put together a form that uploads the podcast and stores some information about it in a mysql database.

It works fine if i upload small mp3's i have tried with a 5 meg file, boom it works just fine. when i try to upload a 15 meg file it does nothing. I have upped the maximium file size in my php.ini to 30 meg so that shouldnt be causing this.

While debugging i added var_dump($_POST); to the submit code and it comes back with an empty array with the large file, but comes back as expected with the smaller file. Im guessing im missing something in php.ini that is dropping this. any ideas?

Can't Upload Large File

Oct 6, 2009

I have a pretty complex form which is using AJAX and APC for a progress bar, it all works fine for files up to a few hundred MB but in tests I'm doing now for files around 600MB it doesn't work. I have all the PHP settings like max upload/script timeouts in php.ini and htaccess for file uploads very high so that shouldn't be a problem and I've also set limitbodyrequest in apache to be very high.

I know the file has uploaded because once the APC driven progress bar reaches 100% the page is forwarded to another page. The form is sent via javascript when the upload commences so it seems that although the file is being uploaded something is preventing the form being processed directly after that as it should, maybe there is some other timeout going on I don't know about?

Unable To Upload File On IIS?

Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move 'D:Tempphpphp98C.tmp' to 'D:Hosting6903htmlpdfsALDOmypdfAP.pdf

I have heard that I can set my php.ini file to change the directory that it's immediately being uploaded to, which would work, however I can't access my php.ini file.I have tried to create my own php.ini file in the root of my directory, and it causes all sorts of problems, such as not finding the correct MySQL configuration files, goDaddy's support on this was to remove the custom php.ini file, ridiculous, I know.I have tried to use ini_set like this

ini_set('upload_tmp_dir', 'D:/Hosting/6903/html/pdfs/');

UPDATE: From Coda the Octal permissions read 777 of the destination directory.

The browser stays open, keeps acting like it's thinking but never comes back. It processed a bunch of rows but then hangs. If I try it different times, it will do the same, having processed a different number of rows each time, even though the code and the data are the same. The file is just over 5 meg. Apache - Large File Upload Errors

Apr 16, 2009

I have an image upload for a slideshow, and the users are continuously uploading files that are 2MB plus. Files under this size work fine, but files over the size cause what looks like a browser timeout. Here are my php ini settings:

Max memory allocation: 12M
Max file upload size: 10M
Max HTTP Post size: 10M
Max execution time: 60
Max input parsing time: 120

These settings are in the configuration file itself, and I can change them directly. Changes show up when using phpinfo(). I am running on an apache server and php 4.3.9(client's choice, not mine). The apache server's request limit is set to default, which I believe is somewhere around 2GB? When I use the firebug network monitor, it does look like I am not receiving a full response from the server, though I am not too experienced at using this tool. Things seem to be timing out at around 43 seconds......

Failing On Large Image File Upload?

Aug 20, 2010

Going to try and explain this the best I can but I don't really have the best idea on what's happening here.I have a submission form for users to fill out their information and upload an image. I've set the file limit size at 500000 which I assumed would be safe for images at 400k or below. When testing locally, any image that is below that file size gets uploaded successfully. However, when testing on my online host/server.. the submission form and data is successfully entered but the image isn't saved at all. It obviously isn't over the size of the file limit I set because it dooesn't return an error.. it successfuly submits but doesn't save or resize my image.I really have no clue what the problem could be. I went over the variables I set for folder locations to move the image to and everything works fine locally, but once on the host and online, it doesn't happen.

POST Data Disapearing On Large File Upload?

I'm having issues with a file uploading utility in my PHP application. When sending large files (9MB+) over the form, I get a very odd behaviour: the POST data I've included in the form dissapears, including the file information.

I've already increased all PHP limits I could (time limit, max input time, post max size, memory limit and upload max filesize) and I still can't get the proper behaviour. I've tried replacing the regular HTTP forms with a Flash-based solution (SWFUpload,, still the same behaviour.

I've tried multiple files of similar sizes and its definitely not a particular file issue. I've debugged the POST vars sent using Firebug, and the correct variables are still there in the header, together with the file.
