File Get Contents Error - Warning: File_get_contents

Jul 7, 2010

I am trying to parse a file [URL]... and I use: echo file_get_contents [URL]... And I get this error back:

Code: [Select]Warning: file_get_contents( [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! ICY 404 Resource Not Found in D:wampwwwRadioestttt.php on line 3

I do not have access to the server or files I just want to make a song history system for my own ShoutCast Radio Server. I was looking around and some people were saying the robots function of a web-server was not allowing file_get_contents access to that file.

Sending Cookies With File / Get The Contents From Another File With File_get_contents?

Nov 20, 2008

i'm trying to get the contents from another file with file_get_contents (don't ask why).

I have two files: test1.php and test2.php. Test1.php returns a string, bases on the user that is logged in.

Test2.php tries to get the contents of test1.php and is being executed by the browser, thus getting the cookies.

To send the cookies with file_get_contents, i create a streaming context:

$opts = array('http' => array('header'=> 'Cookie: ' . $_SERVER['HTTP_COOKIE']."

I'm retreiving the contents with:

$contents = file_get_contents("", false, $opts);

But now I get the error:

Warning: file_get_contents( [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

edit:forgot to mention: Without the streaming_context, the page just loads. But withouth the cookies I don't get the info I need.

File Get Contents - Need Response Body Of HTTP 500 With File_get_contents

May 18, 2011

Using file_get_contents as part of custom SOAP implementation to apply SOAP calls (ALL libraries that we tried would not do SSL + certificate based authentication with SOAP 1.2 correctly). However difficult and barely-documented API often returns 500. There are error details in response body, but file_get_contents doesn't appear to allow access to it. fopen seems to have the same issue. Prefer not to go to cURL due to heavy use of stream contexts to get authentication working.

Why Seemingly Random Script Failure With XML Implications - Warning: File_get_contents

Mar 24, 2009

I am receiving this XML error: Only one top level element is allowed in an XML document. Error processing resource... Accompanied with this PHP error: Warning: file_get_contents(...) It seems straight forward, except it's not reproducible in any way and it's happens 100% on our clients computers (more than 6). Initially I though this was only IE6, but when they upgraded to IE7, it still happened. While it seems the XML error is triggered by the PHP error, it only happens on IE and never on any other browser.

No Such File Or Directory Error - Warning: Fopen

Jan 16, 2003

I'm parsing out several XML files (*.rdf) from various news sites, and dumping the data into a MySQL table so I don't have to get it but once every 2 hrs. or so. (My site pulls from the DB, and a cron updates the db every 2hrs.) Everything parses really nice, unless I get a:

Warning: fopen("", "r") - No such file or directory in /home/me/myfile.php on line 15

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /home/me/myfile.php on line 19

The main problem with this error, is that it will appear no matter what (even the @ suppressor) and throws the page out of whack. On top of that, my parser doesn't get the failsafe errors I've tried to use, b/c PHP is barfing on the above error and not telling the rest of the script. So, my DB will be updated with NULL info!

I'm currently using fopen() , but have read about the socket option to test the site, but I don't think they would work b/c they're not page specific, rather site specific.

File_get_contents Now Gets Forbidden Error?

May 2, 2011

I'm working on a PHP application that will cycle through a list of URLs checking to see if the link is valid or not. The way I accomplish this is by opening the URL using the php function file_get_contents. I then search for a certain string value within the page source in order to determine if the link is good or bad. So in testing the application, towards the end of the day, whenever I would try to check a URL on this website I would get this message: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden in. The message is a bit longer containing information about the location of my code but this part is the part that stood out to me. I'm thinking that maybe the companies router/firewall thinks I'm trying to spam/attack them based off what I have been Googling. I'm wondering if I might be on some permanent "blacklist" or something like that and how would I find out? I wasn't trying to do anything bad. Actually, what I'm doing will help out this company as I'm doing something that will help to generate sales. Total accident :-) I'm going to call the company later and ask them about it.

Good Error Handling With File_get_contents?

Aug 7, 2010

I am making use of simplehtmldom which has this funciton:

// get html dom form file
function file_get_html() {
$dom = new simple_html_dom;[code]....

Sometimes, a URL may just not be valid and I want to handle this. I thought I could use a try and catch but this hasn't worked since it doesn't throw an exception, it just gives a php warning like this:

[06-Aug-2010 19:59:42] PHP Warning: file_get_contents( 1/) [<a href='function.file-get-contents'>function.file-get-contents</a>]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found in /home/example/public_html/other/simple_html_dom.php on line 39

Line 39 is in the above code.

How can i correctly handle this error, can I just use a plain ifcondition, it doesn't look like it returns a boolean.

Thanks all for any help

Is this a good solution?

if(fopen(urlencode(trim("$next_url")), 'r')){

$html3 = file_get_html(urlencode(trim("$next_url")));

//do other stuff, error_logging
return false;

File_get_contents => Fatal Error: Allowed Memory Exhausted?

Mar 9, 2011

I have no experience when dealing with large files so I am not sure what to do about this. I have attempted to read several large files using file_get_contents ; the task is to clean and munge them using preg_replace().

My code runs fine on small files ; however, the large files (40 MB) trigger an Memory exhausted error:

PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 41390283 bytes)

I was thinking of using fread() instead but I am not sure that'll work either. Is there a workaround for this problem?

This is my code:

##get find() results and remove DOS carriage returns.
##The error is thrown on the next line for large files!

##cleanup Test_Version field and create comma delimited layout.

File Locking / File_get_contents() / File Changed While Reading?

Jan 6, 2006

I'm using file_get_contents() to get the contents of a file, *BUT* I need to be sure that the file doesn't change while file_get_contents() is reading the contents of the file.

I'm not sure if file_get_contents() will ensure that the file contents don't get changed ( another script fwrites() to the file ) while file_get_contents() is doing its thing, or if I need to use a lock file to ensure this doesn't happen.

Anyone know if I need to use a lock file, or will I be fine just calling file_get_contents()?

Faster Alternative To File_get_contents() - Fatal Error: Maximum Execution Time Of 30 Seconds Exceeded

Apr 18, 2010

Currently I'm using file_get_contents() to submit GET data to an array of sites, but upon execution of the page I get this error:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded

All I really want the script to do is start loading the webpage, and then leave. Each webpage may take up to 5 minutes to load fully, and I don't need it to load fully. Here is what I currently have:

foreach($sites as $s) //Create one line to read from a wide array
file_get_contents($s['url']); // Send to the shells

EDIT: To clear any confusion, this script is being used to start scripts on other servers, that return no data.

EDIT: I'm now attempting to use cURL to do the trick, by setting a timeout of one second to make it send the data and then stop. Here is my code:

$ch = curl_init($s['url']); //load the urls
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, 1); //Only send the data, don't wait.
curl_exec($ch); //Execute
curl_close($ch); //Close it off.

EDIT: found the problem. I was using CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT instead of CURLOPT_TIMEOUT. However now, the scripts aren't triggering. They each use ignore_user_abort(TRUE); so I can't understand the problem
