How can I take a base64 encoded PDF and decode it then save it on my server for linking back to the saved file later? I have searched for some time now on multiple forms and with google, and I have come up empty handed for anything that can even push me in the right direction. Maybe my search terms are poorly constructed, The string that is the base64 encoded pdf comes to me via an xml feed and is dynamically generated through the USPS system. I have tested the encoded strings in 3rd party apps I have found along my search for finding a way to do it with php, and it does work in those.
So if anyone has any experience with this, or can point me towards a decent document (other than the php.net site for the encode manual) that can help me out, or if anyone wants to throw me a demo concept to work with,

I'm trying to work on a script that can decode an encoded pdf file from xml. I have the xml in a variable called $result. Inside that xml there is code for the pdf. It is encoded in base64. My question is how can I pull the data from the xml, decode it, and display the pdf file that it is.
We are getting base64 encoded (XML) data from a third party. If the XML data is in English, everything works fine, I am able do base64 decode, and parse the XML. If the XML is all lower case French characters, everything works fine. But if the xml data contains upper case French characters (like À), if I do base64 decode and try to parse it, the parser fails.
I am trying to take a Base64 encoded image from the database and save it to a file. For whatever reason, when I try using imagecreatefromstring & imagepng the image is completely black. I have tried many different approaches, but I still end up with a black box. Below is my best attempt to get it to work
I have a script that I am trying to transfer one file from a remote server to my local server and save it. The files can be quite large. I have successfully backed up around 200 MB... But, anything over that seems to fail with a strange error... I was hoping for a little guidance... here is my code and error/warning that I get:
I have a script that writes an image to my server, but I need a way to open that saved file, remove 12px height from the bottom and then resave over the original file.I've gone through a mass of bad searches and end up with GD scripts to crop the image and then reads the imge out on the fly, but I can't find any that tell me how to save the file to the server (with the acception of image upload scripts).
// image I want to resize $file = $this->local_cache_subdir."/".$this->local_cache_file; $img = imagecreatefromjpeg($file); [code]....

I am designing a university website that is supposed to have faculty's resume in it but in order to make it easy for them to update their CV I want to ask them to have it as a txt file in their own webdirectory. The goal is to write a code in php so that it goes and downloads their accessible txt file, save it into the server and after several other steps shows it as html.
My major problem is how to download a file from the web and save it into the server by php so that I can open and read it. I would really appreciate any ideas that you professionals might have.
I'm using php to generate pictures, the pictures are maps with different locations plotted on them in different colors to signify information. Right now what the php does is it goes and looks in a mySQL database to get latitude and longitude and information about the location then it draws the location on the map. Right now it does this for every person who goes and looks at the site. I'm wondering if this puts an undue amount of strain on the server and I should look into a way of generating images and then uploading them as flat image files to the server and serving those image files?
So should I make the images every time?
or should I save the images to the server and serve those to the client?
When calling model.save(), in chrome it shows it is sending Request Payload parameters. I do not know what the heck it is, cannot find any reference on the net, and do not know how to use it on server.Using $_GET, $_POST, $_REQUEST in server side does not show anything... Can anyone show me how to use that Request Payload?
I am facing the task of having to upload a snapshot to the server. But I don't want the user to download the image to their computer. I have explored a few solutions of generating an image serverside with PHP, but they all seem to use a method where the server sends the image to the user. I'm wondering if it's possible to save $GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"], which in that example contains the ByteArray sent by Flash, to the server as an image file....
I want the user to submit a url, say http://somesite.com/new.jpg and the script to save the image to the server. I dont want to do uploading on the user end. I have the form and everything set up I just need to know what to do with the url. thanks
I have code using fopen and fread etc that I can tweak, and that I've been tweaking for a while now that will read an image from a specific URL and save on on my server. However, it isn't 100% bug proof and I can foresee problems occuring in the future.
Is there a function or method that will simply download an image/file from a specific remote url and save it to a specific file on my server?
I am just starting out with haXe development, and wanted to give the PHP side a go, but am already a little confused. What is the best way to save some form data to XML files in a folder on a server with haXe compiled to PHP?
